Overview
Amazon is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their Legal Department and support their regulatory compliance and pro-competitive strategy for their Amazon Web Services (AWS) products. This role will involve working closely with business, public policy, and legal teams to develop strategies and plans related to topics such as artificial intelligence, interoperability, and service provider switching. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of legal experience, a Juris Doctor degree, and be a member of one state bar or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop pro-competitive strategies and regulatory compliance plans for AWS products
- Identify and mitigate existing and emerging legal risks
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters
- Provide input on business and policy strategy
- Analyze and contribute to AWS policy positions globally
- Implement compliance plans to address new regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor degree and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Mix of corporate law firm and in-house work experience
- Knowledge of cloud technology and regulatory compliance and strategy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound business judgment
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Compensation
The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in the lowest geographic market to $229,000/year in the highest geographic market. Pay is determined by a variety of factors, including market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon also offers a full range of benefits, including medical and financial, as well as potential equity and sign-on payments.
