Job Title: Construction Claims Manager
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of claims examiners with varied experience levels, managing the resolution of claims ranging from low to high complexity.
- Provide direction, coaching, and training to the team, ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives and priorities.
- Confirm coverage of claims by reviewing policies and supporting documents.
- Direct and monitor the assignment of new loss activity for construction bodily injury claims.
- Review and approve correspondence and reports, including coverage position letters and Large Loss Reports.
- Approve reserves and settlements beyond the authority of the handling specialist and make recommendations for reserve changes to Director or Senior Management.
- Participate in discussions of large loss activity within the general liability book with stakeholders such as Underwriting, Actuarial, and Executive Management.
- Ensure team adherence to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internal performance objectives.
- Assess and evaluate team and individual performance, providing feedback and identifying training needs.
- Prepare and distribute reports by collecting and summarizing information.
- Assist in budget preparation, evaluate expenses, and assess resource needs.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and enhance relationships with customers and channel partners.
- Participate in special projects and travel to other claim offices, mediations, trials, and conferences as required.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required; a JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree is a plus.
- Must have or be eligible to receive a claims adjuster license.
- Successful achievement of industry designations such as INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU, or completion of I-Lead or other Management Training is necessary.
- A minimum of 10 years of claims handling experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Successful completion of 5 years as a Senior Claims Specialist or Executive Claims Specialist is a plus.
- Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service and work effectively in a team environment.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) are required.
- A strong desire for continuous improvement is essential.
Salary Information:
The base salary for the position is between $90,500 and $150,900, with a 25% bonus potential. The salary offered will be based on factors such as job-relevant education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other compensable factors.
Additional Information:
- Company offers hybrid working schedules with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
