Job Responsibilities:
The Claims Counsel in the Management Liability Claims Unit is responsible for managing all lines of Management Liability Claims under the company's management liability policies. Key responsibilities include:

- Handling Management Liability Claims for Private and Non-Profit businesses, including Employment Practices liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Cyber Liability, and Crime claims.
- Analyzing, investigating, negotiating, and resolving claims within authority limits.
- Selecting, directing, and managing defense counsel, including the approval of budgets.
- Developing litigation and file disposition strategies and attending mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Verifying and analyzing applicable coverage for reported claims.
- Following operational policies and procedures, including compliance and regulatory standards.
- Preparing reports, including Large Loss Reports, to management reflecting loss development and financial exposure.
- Establishing 24-hour contact and maintaining appropriate communication with stakeholders throughout the claim file's life.
- Identifying and addressing recovery, contribution, and Special Investigative Unit (SIU) opportunities.
- Setting accurate and timely loss and expense reserves in compliance with Claim Guidelines.
- Drafting correspondence, including coverage letters to stakeholders.
- Supporting business partners on claim and underwriting-related issues and marketing meetings.
- Maintaining resident and non-resident adjuster licenses as required.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
Must have:

- Bachelor’s degree.
- Juris Doctorate.
- Proper licensure, registration, or authorization to practice law in the jurisdiction of work.
- 3-5 years of management liability claim experience, including handling employment liability practices, directors and officers’ liability, and fiduciary liability coverages, or applicable legal experience.
- Excellent coverage analysis skills with experience in drafting coverage position correspondence.
- Experience in handling litigated files and directing defense counsel.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel, averaging one day a month.
- Licensure as required by respective state(s).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize work.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data, utilize sound judgment to draw conclusions, and make supported decisions.
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring VISA sponsorship.

Salary Information:
The annual gross salary range for this position is $106,400 – $168,100. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary for this position. Total compensation includes a base salary, performance-based bonuses, 401(K) match, profit-sharing opportunities, and more. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as candidate qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role.
