Paralegal/Legal Assistant The candidate will understand of state and local court rules, guidelines, and case workflow processes. Receive and review incoming mail for assigned attorneys, and determine next actions. Draft pre-and post-judgment correspondence, documents, and pleadings. Manage the organization and workflow of a large volume of matters. Assist with administrative tasks in order to reduce attorney non-billable time. Communicate in a professional and respectful manner with clients, VF employees, attorneys, vendors, opposing parties and third-party providers. Maintain and hold in high regard all confidential information obtained through employment. Type at least 50+ wpm, 10-key. Proven competencies in general computer programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel. FDCPA familiarity (training/testing required). Provide 40 hours per week of service, during an agreed-upon schedule of hours, evidenced by daily time punches (in/out).
The candidate should have a baccalaureate degree or advanced degree in any subject, with a recommended 2 years of experience in a law firm. Certificate of completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program, with a recommended 2 years of experience in a law firm. Certificate of completion of a paralegal program at or a degree from a post-secondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester or equivalent units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization, with a recommended minimum of two years of experience in a law firm. Collections and/or HOA law firm experience is a plus.
