Job Title: Claim Director
Job Responsibilities:
- Handle all aspects of claim management for complex asbestos, long-term exposure, and environmental claims from initial notice to resolution.
- Analyze contracts, policies, applicable laws, and the facts surrounding claims to determine coverage positions and resolve claims under reasonable terms and appropriate values.
- Conduct and manage factual claims investigations, including communication with policyholders, remediation experts, counsel, and others to gather all necessary claim facts.
- Negotiate cost-sharing agreements with carriers and policyholders.
- Assign defense counsel and manage litigation strategies and budgets.
- Evaluate claims and provide management with recommendations on claim resolution plans.
- Maintain both physical and electronic claim files, ensuring information is accurately captured in claim systems.
- Respond to internal requests for information from management, reinsurers, auditors, and others.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports for management on significant claim developments.
- Deliver high levels of service to company business partners.
- Mentor and assist colleagues, sharing technical expertise with staff members.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to enhance operations and achieve organizational objectives more effectively.
- Travel may be required as part of the role.
Education and Experience Information:
- High degree of technical competence in handling high exposure claims with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, specifically in asbestos and/or environmental claims.
- A four-year college degree is required, and a law degree is preferred.

- Experience in directly managing defense counsel.
- Expertise in managing disputed or litigated coverage matters.
- Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing general liability policies.
- Strong analytical skills.

- Experience in collaborative work environments across different work groups.
- Significant knowledge of Excel and data management tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office utilities.
