Job Title: Assistant Corporation Counsel, Administrative Law & Regulatory Litigation

Job Responsibilities:
The role of Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Administrative Law & Regulatory Litigation Division involves managing State and Federal court proceedings for and against various City agencies. These agencies are tasked with enforcing laws and regulations in areas such as public health, land use, licensing, transportation, public housing, and building and fire codes. The responsibilities include:

- Defending Article 78 proceedings and actions in state and federal courts, particularly against unlicensed cannabis establishments.
- Handling cases that challenge the constitutional validity of City regulations, including First and Second Amendment issues and Due Process and Equal Protection claims.
- Bringing civil actions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prosecuting code violators in New York Criminal Court to enforce compliance.
- Independently managing a caseload from start to finish, which includes preparing pleadings and affidavits, conducting research, writing memoranda of law, and engaging in necessary discovery.
- Making court appearances to argue motions and potentially taking cases to trial.
- Prosecuting violations and misdemeanors in Criminal Court.

Education and Experience Information:
- Applicants must be admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
- A minimum of two years of experience following graduation from an ABA-approved law school is required.
- Superior organizational, time-management, research and writing, and oral advocacy skills are essential.
- A demonstrated record of independently litigating matters in courts is necessary.
- While prior regulatory or municipal law experience is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the position is $87, to $175,.
