Position Summary

- The Legal Project Manager will assist lawyers with exemplary client service through advanced matter and client management.
- Expected to understand the firm’s business goals and support lawyers in value-added services to clients.
- Analyzing financial data, creating Excel-based financial reports, utilizing project management methodologies and tools, and building client communication tools (such as dashboards).

Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist legal teams in defining project scope, timelines, roles and responsibilities, and risk management plans.
- Manage client projects with multiple resources, including client representatives, legal resources, project managers, and technology.
- Analyze financial data and create Excel-based reports to track matter progress and budget.
- Assist with budget and matter work plan development.
- Estimate necessary resources and provide input for budget and work plan creation.
- Consult on pricing methods and alternative fee arrangements.
- Define project success criteria and communicate progress to involved parties.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope and identify potential risks.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Create and complete internal and external reports for continuous improvement.
- Develop understanding of law firm profitability metrics and key performance indicators.
- Make recommendations to improve profitability metrics.
- Build and maintain business relationships.
- Partner with other departments for program success.
- Conduct training on project management and value services.
- Negotiate rate and fee agreements with clients and prepare partners for similar discussions.

Requirements

- Undergraduate or MBA degree in finance or related business field, Juris Doctor, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum two years experience in legal industry and five years in finance industry.
- Willingness to obtain project management or legal project management certification.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Visio, and Project, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure team-based environment.
- Ability to respond to changing priorities and timelines.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from various parties.
- Ability to balance control and execution.
- Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
- Willingness to work remotely and communicate effectively.
- Ability to travel for meetings and training.

Pay Ranges

- Pay range varies based on location and experience.
- Pittsburgh, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta: $82,000 - $95,000
- Chicago, Philadelphia: $87,500 - $105,000
- Princeton, Washington, DC: $93,500 - $115,000
