Junior Associate Disability Attorney - Important Work with Competitive Salary

Heard & Smith, a leading law firm in the Social Security Disability practice area, is seeking a Junior Associate Disability Attorney to join their team. This position offers a competitive salary range of $50k-$65k annually, depending on experience. As a Junior Associate Attorney, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of clients by providing them with legal representation in their disability claims. This is an entry level position that can lead to further opportunities within the firm for promising new attorneys or attorneys new to the Social Security Disability practice area.

Client-Focused Legal Advocacy and Hearing Representation

The core skills of this position include client-centered legal advocacy and hearing representation. As a Junior Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for representing clients in hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges. This may take up about half to two thirds of your time. Additionally, you will also be assigned other tasks such as answering client questions, reviewing and developing pre-hearing and hearing level cases, conducting legal research, and writing legal briefs for disability hearings and appeals council. This role also involves regular client contact, mostly through telephone but also in person, by mail, and email.

Opportunities for Growth and Development

Heard & Smith values growth and development for their employees. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and professional environment, with fulfilling, challenging, and rewarding workloads. The firm also provides a great team environment, paid holidays and time off, a comprehensive medical benefits package, and an employee wellness program. Additionally, there is potential for growth within the firm, with the opportunity to advance to an Associate Attorney position if you have represented clients in at least 200 disability hearings.

Requirements for Success

To be successful in this role, you will need to have an Attorney License and be reliable, dependable, and eager to learn and make a difference. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this position, as well as excellent legal writing skills. This role also requires the ability to travel to and from hearings in other cities and states, up to 70% of the time. You must also reside in one of the following states: Texas, Florida, or Georgia. While knowledge of Social Security Disability Law is preferred, it is not required.

Remote Work Option Available

This position is available for candidates who reside in Texas, Florida, or Georgia and will also require travel to hearings in other cities and states. For those who reside in one of these states, there is the option to work remotely from your home office. However, there are minimum requirements for the home office, including a fast internet connection, wired ethernet cable internet connection, land line telephone or good cell phone signal, and a quiet home office with no distractions during business hours. The firm provides a laptop computer, additional monitor, printer, headphones, and monthly stipends for cell phone, internet, office supplies, parking, and home office cleaning service. Remote access to the firm's computer network is also provided for use during business travel.
