KPMG is seeking a Senior Manager to join their State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, providing a unique opportunity to work with high-profile clients and develop your career through a range of engagements, training, and mentoring. Responsibilities:

- Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, structuring, and controversies
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide industry knowledge and experience to internal and external clients
- Review state income tax returns and provide technical advice on multi-state tax issues
- Research and draft technical memoranda or slide decks on income, franchise, sales and use tax, and other state and local tax questions
- Support clients with state and local tax controversies, including preparing for discussions with auditors, representing them at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests
- Collaborate with KPMG audit teams to review and analyze state tax-related income and balance sheet items
- Build and manage client relationships and supervise, mentor, and develop staff

Qualifications:

- Minimum eight years of experience in tax research, reviewing state income tax returns, and providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; Licensed CPA, JD/LLM, EA or MTX, in addition to others on KPMG's approved credential listing
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams delivering state and local income tax compliance and/or consulting services
- Strong business development skills and ability to foster relationships with both internal and external clients
- Excellent writing, compliance, communication, management, and tax research skills
- Desire to work in a high-energy team environment
