Assistant General Counsel
Experience Information
A Juris Doctorate from a nationally recognized law school and admission to the Florida Bar is required for this position. Experience in governmental operations, administrative law, and/or Higher Education Law is highly preferred.
Position Summary
The Assistant General Counsel at **Members Only** will serve as a key member of the Legal Affairs team, supporting the Vice President for Legal Affairs on a variety of legal issues affecting the college. This position will have a primary focus on reviewing and responding to requests under Florida’s Public Records Act and serving as the College’s accreditation liaison. The Assistant General Counsel will also provide legal advice and support to various departments and stakeholders at the college, with a focus on compliance with higher education regulations and policies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Review and respond to requests made under Florida’s Public Records Law
- Coordinate assessment activities for compliance with accreditation standards
- Draft and interpret university policies
- Advise on legal implications for issues raised by faculty, staff, and students
- Respond to grievances, complaints, and regulatory inquiries
- Review labor and employment processes and procedures
- Advise on new developments and trends in higher education regulation
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from a nationally recognized law school
- Admission to the Florida Bar
- Experience in governmental operations, administrative law, and/or Higher Education Law preferred
