Job Title: Insurance Defense Trial Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
As an Insurance Defense Trial Attorney at the company, the primary responsibilities include representing the company and its policyholders in moderately complex civil litigation matters. These cases typically involve claims for monetary damages or compensation for personal injuries or property damage of moderate value. The role is largely remote, except for required court appearances.
Key duties include:
- Managing the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery through trial preparation and court proceedings.
- Representing clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, and negotiating settlements as required.
- Researching applicable laws to develop appropriate legal strategies for all stages of litigation and sharing these strategies with claims representatives and insured clients.
- Establishing and maintaining good relationships with claims representatives and insured clients.
- Conducting training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments as needed.
- Developing and rendering clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies.
- Drafting legal documents, including pleadings and motions.
- Providing guidance and direction to junior attorneys, paralegals, or law clerks.
- Interacting and collaborating with the Home Office Legal team.
Education and Experience Information:
- Membership in the California State Bar is required.
- Special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts are preferred.
- A minimum of six years of successful experience as an attorney with trial experience.
- Experience in conducting discovery, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings.
- Experience in representing insurance companies is essential.

Salary Information:
- The minimum salary is USD $119, per year.
- The maximum salary is USD $210, per year.
- The typical starting salary ranges from $150,000 to $170,000 per year.
- Employees are eligible for performance bonuses and receive 20 days of flexible time off annually.
