Job Title: E-Discovery Technology Project Manager

Job Responsibilities:

The E-Discovery Technology Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the entire lifecycle of a case, ensuring the development and adherence to workflows that result in successful outcomes. Key responsibilities include:

- Collaborating closely with legal teams to devise and maintain strategies for effective data handling from collection to final review and production.
- Building, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex E-Discovery databases, analyzing data, and overseeing data loading for legal review.
- Managing large, diverse collections of emails, images, and native files, and ensuring quality control of all work, including vendor data.
- Providing application support within the department and to legal teams, assisting users with issues, and guiding legal teams through processes.
- Training attorneys and paralegals in the effective use of E-Discovery Technology software.
- Handling frequent document production, including pre- and post-production activities and managing the chain of custody.
- Communicating effectively with legal teams and vendors, mastering the use of all E-Discovery Technology tools.
- Collaborating with department personnel and working independently as needed.
- Managing complete case activities involving electronic discovery, case data management, document retention, and resource utilization.
- Communicating continuously with legal team members throughout the case lifecycle and managing vendor activities.
- Developing strategies for efficient data handling and maintaining datasets using advanced document processing tools.
- Tracking case-related activities using project management tools and assisting legal teams in data trend analysis.
- Advising legal teams on data collection, preservation, processing, and retention, and attending discovery planning conferences.
- Overseeing work by Specialists and Analysts and handling data processing tasks.
- Ensuring adherence to E-Discovery Technology conventions and best practices, including data culling and time zone management.
- Maintaining server and folder structures, identifying and archiving old case data, and participating in document production processing.
- Performing quality control checks on data and load files and providing training and support to users.
- Maintaining data tracking logs, managing data media inventory, and ensuring proper chain of custody.
- Assisting with trial support, liaising with trial presentation vendors, and providing advice to legal teams and vendors.
- Writing clear directions and summaries for legal teams and providing timely status updates.
- Testing existing and new software, participating in vendor demonstrations, and recording all time worked.
- Pursuing additional education and training in relevant E-Discovery Technology topics and maintaining confidentiality.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:

- A is required.

Experience:

- A minimum of 5 years of relevant E-Discovery Technology or Litigation Support experience is required, preferably in a law firm setting, although vendor experience is also considered.
- An understanding of law firm culture and legal team demands is essential.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

- Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) certification is highly desirable.
- A thorough understanding of the EDRM lifecycle, electronic and paper discovery, and E-Discovery Technology best practices is required.
- Considerable hands-on experience with E-Discovery Technology processing software, review platforms, and project management software is needed.
- Strong experience with tools like kCura Relativity, Nuix, LexisNexis Concordance, and others is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and quality control under pressure are crucial.
- Flexibility in schedule with some off-hour availability is important.
- Experience with advanced technologies like Early Case Assessment, Advanced Analytics, and Predictive Coding is a plus.
- A deep understanding of database searchability, OCR and extracted text, email threading, and imaging technologies is anticipated.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

The role operates in an office setting and involves the use of standard office equipment. Physical demands include sedentary work with occasional walking and standing.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this position, applicable to various locations, is $135,000 to $155,000. The range reflects factors like experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and market demands.
