Job Title: Senior Attorney - Family Law Litigation

Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Attorney in the department, your primary responsibility is to deliver high-quality legal services to clients, specifically focusing on family law matters. You will manage a comprehensive caseload that includes divorce, custody, support, property division, and domestic violence cases, guiding them from inception to resolution. Your responsibilities encompass strategic planning, legal drafting, court representation, and maintaining regular client communication. Collaboration with colleagues and staff is crucial to achieving optimal outcomes for clients.

Your core responsibilities include:

Represent: Provide experienced legal counsel and advocacy in all areas of family law. Guide clients through complex and emotionally charged situations with empathy and clarity.
Litigate: Manage every stage of litigation, from pleadings and discovery to negotiations, hearings, trials, and post-judgment proceedings, using a strategic, results-oriented approach.
Advocate: Deliver persuasive, thematically driven arguments in court and settlement discussions while upholding the highest ethical and professional standards.
Negotiate: Lead negotiations and mediations to help clients reach fair, practical, and client-focused resolutions.
Strategize: Create and execute tailored legal strategies that align with each client’s unique goals and circumstances.
Collaborate: Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure cases are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with firm procedures.
Connect: Build strong, trusting relationships with clients by offering responsive, transparent, and solution-driven support throughout the legal process.
Deliver: Meet an annual billable requirement of 1,560 hours, reflecting your commitment to excellence and consistent client service.
Manage: Oversee your cases in accordance with firm policies and best practices, ensuring consistency, quality, and accountability.
Learn: Stay current on legal developments in family law and fulfill continuing legal education requirements to ensure your legal knowledge remains sharp and relevant.
Own: Take full ownership of case development and legal document preparation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and prenuptial agreements.

Education and Experience Information:
To be considered for the role of Senior Attorney, you must hold a valid license to practice law in Maryland, with preference given to those also licensed in DC and/or Virginia. Candidates should have demonstrated experience of 3-5 years in handling family law cases in Maryland and/or DC. A proven track record in litigating and negotiating, with successful courtroom experience, is essential. You must have the ability to collaborate effectively with other legal professionals and support staff to achieve optimal client outcomes.

Additionally, you should possess excellent skills in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy, with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities to advocate for clients both in and out of court. Comfort and proficiency with technology to enhance client accessibility and team collaboration are necessary. Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required to handle multiple cases, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve billable targets while delivering top-tier client service. An approach to every case with empathy, compassion, and a strong commitment to understanding and meeting client needs is crucial. Fluency in Spanish is an added advantage.

Salary Information:
The salary for the Senior Attorney position ranges from $95,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience. The benefits package includes health insurance contributions, a 401(k) with a 4% employer match, life insurance, short-term disability coverage, a cell phone allowance, flexible paid time off, and reimbursement for approved CLEs and bar dues.
