A distinguished law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in real estate and foreclosure litigation to represent mortgage servicers and investor clients. The role involves litigation in both state and federal courts, including the defense of consumer claims and handling commercial foreclosure matters. Ideal candidates will have a solid foundation in New York foreclosure law and possess strong litigation and case management skills. Duties:
Manage contested foreclosure and related litigation matters
Prosecute commercial foreclosures from case initiation through resolution
Analyze loan files, title documents, and client-provided materials
Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, discovery, and settlement agreements
Represent clients in court hearings, conferences, trials, and appeals
Maintain regular communication with clients and comply with directives via client portals
Collaborate with legal support staff on document preparation and case management
Conduct legal research and consult with partners on complex matters
Prepare matter budgets, seek client fee approvals, and maintain time tracking for billing purposes
Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) years of litigation experience preferred; lesser experience may be considered for strong candidates
Practical knowledge of New York Mortgage Foreclosure Law is required
Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment
Capable of managing a full caseload and meeting deadlines
Education:
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in New York (Required)
Licensure in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut is a plus
Skills:
