Job Title: Attorney - Fiduciary & Trustee Services

Job Responsibilities:
The Attorney – Fiduciary and Trustee Services is tasked with managing and overseeing fiduciary duties on behalf of clients. This includes handling trustee roles for a portfolio of over 300 irrevocable life insurance trusts, as well as fulfilling responsibilities as a trustee, executor, or fiduciary advisor when the company serves in these capacities for clients and beneficiaries. The attorney will work closely with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other professional advisors to ensure that the administration of trusts and estates is conducted efficiently, lawfully, and with the highest ethical standards. Key responsibilities include:

- Managing fiduciary responsibilities when the company serves as trustee of an irrevocable life insurance trust, including handling demand right notices, premium payments, trust accounting, policy administration, and tax reporting.
- Supervising team members who assist with the ILIT portfolio.
- Handling fiduciary responsibilities when the company serves as a trustee, personal representative, or agent for clients.
- Managing trust and estate administration duties, which involve asset management, beneficiary communications, distributions, accountings, and tax reporting in coordination with the company's settlement department.
- Providing legal advice to clients acting in fiduciary roles and supporting their fiduciary decision-making.
- Identifying and mitigating fiduciary risks.
- Preparing fiduciary reports, communications, and necessary legal filings.
- Interpreting and applying trust instruments, wills, and other estate planning documents.
- Evaluating and reviewing existing estate planning documents through the company's client maintenance program to identify necessary updates based on changes in law, family circumstances, or client goals.
- Proactively recommending and implementing amendments, restatements, or additional planning strategies for maintenance program participants.
- Collaborating with internal and external tax professionals, financial advisors, and other attorneys to support proper administration.
- Maintaining clear, proactive communication with clients, beneficiaries, and third parties.
- Executing estate planning documents with clients.
- Supporting the company's broader estate planning, maintenance, and settlement teams as needed.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Nebraska, or any of the 10 jurisdictions in which the company practices (NE, IA, ND, SD, MN, MO, KS, CO, KS, AZ) or ability to obtain promptly.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, probate, trust administration, or fiduciary services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fiduciary responsibilities and applicable laws.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ethical judgment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-centered approach.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving in a fiduciary capacity (trustee, executor, conservator, agent under POA).
- Familiarity with fiduciary accounting principles.
