Job Title: Litigation Manager (Enterprise Litigation)
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage legal cases that are high profile and high exposure, potentially involving Executive Committee (EC) and/or Board of Directors (BoD) awareness, and having the potential for significant enterprise impact.
- Participate in formulating, communicating, and briefing case strategy to internal legal team and/or business leaders.
- Prepare case evaluations and requests for settlement authority in cases with potential for significant enterprise impact.
- Research moderately complex to complex cases and integrate information to form responses and submit responses to legal and regulatory requests.
- Conduct case activities including investigating case facts, creating litigation plans, reviewing and revising pleadings, and representing the company at mediations and trials.
- Review and analyze files, policies, company documents, and witnesses to evaluate exposure, respond to discovery requests, and aid outside and in-house counsel in case strategy.
- Analyze demographic or statistical data to mitigate risk.
- Participate in the legal discovery process, including preparing materials for production, deposition preparation sessions, depositions, and assisting in the identification and preparation of witnesses for depositions and trials.
- Create Legal Hold documents and monitor the e-Discovery process to ensure compliance with State and Federal Rules.
- Identify opportunities, synthesize analyses, identify root causes, and provide recommendations that influence litigation case solutions.
- Act as a liaison with internal and external counsel, management, and other external parties.
- Provide input and expertise on cases within a single line of business and may assist on cases impacting multiple lines of business.
- Under minimal attorney supervision, research, form responses, and submit to legal and regulatory requests.
- Provide insight on issues and process improvements.
- Serve as a resource to team members, others in the General Counsel office, and business clients.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum required) may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 4 years of experience in litigation as a paralegal handling complex litigation or relevant work.
- Proficient knowledge of relevant statutes, case law, and regulations in relevant discipline.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient knowledge of relevant enterprise discipline (labor & employment, or P&C, Bank, etc).
Additional Qualifications:
- Four plus years of active participation in mediations, depositions, witness preparations, contested judicial hearings, and trials.
- Experience with multiple litigation areas (., First-party insurance bad faith, class actions, or other complex commercial litigation).
- Experience with e-Discovery and litigation holds.
- Experience with case strategy development and implementation of litigation solutions.
- US military experience with skills related to one of the following MOS’s: Navy (Legalman (LN), Marines (4402, 4405, 4406, 4410, 4411, 4417), Army (27A/270A), USAF (51JX / 5J0X1).
Salary Information:
- Compensation range: $77,120 - $147,.
- The company has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure competitiveness. Employees are paid within the salary range based on experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
- Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
