Salt Senior Manager, Credits & Incentives
Job Summary:
The Salt Senior Manager, Credits & Incentives is an integral part of the tax team at **Members Only**, a leading accounting and advisory firm. In this role, the senior manager will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to clients on credits and incentives opportunities related to their business objectives. They will also be responsible for marketing, networking, and business development within their area of specialization and keeping up-to-date with potential changes in credits and incentives policy. The senior manager will work closely with other tax professionals to provide clients with the best possible service and solutions.
Job Duties:
- Conducting research on complex credits and incentives situations and providing detailed reports or matrices of findings to clients.
- Developing relationships with state and local tax authorities and economic development personnel.
- Reviewing income tax returns and identifying significant statutory credit opportunities for clients.
- Evaluating clients' compliance processes and providing tailored solutions for annual credits and incentives reporting.
- Drafting memorandums and other documentation on various credits and incentives issues.
- Reviewing client operations to identify potential credits and incentives opportunities in different jurisdictions.
- Applying all applicable state tax consulting sub-specialties and collaborating with other tax professionals as needed.
- Ensuring engagement letters are in place before beginning work and managing engagements.
- Assisting in developing consultative strategies for credits and incentives.
- Managing client expectations and building strong relationships.
- Drafting responses to notices from tax authorities and representing clients on credits and incentives issues.
- Utilizing relevant tax software and databases to complete tasks.
- Providing technical client service and conducting negotiations on credits and incentives matters.
- Reviewing studies of credits and incentives opportunities and developing alternative courses of action for clients.
- Researching strategies and suggesting marketing approaches for new client acquisition.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervising the workload of STS SALT Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements and reviewing their work product.
- Providing training on relevant tax software to STS SALT Senior Associates, Associates, and Interns.
- Evaluating the performance of STS SALT Senior Associates and Associates and assisting in their professional development.
- Delivering periodic performance feedback and completing evaluations for STS SALT Managers, Senior Associates, Associates, and Interns.
- Acting as a Career Advisor to STS SALT Senior Associates and Associates.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Master's degree in Accounting/Taxation or . preferred.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in state and local/multistate tax, with a focus on credits and incentives.
- Prior experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis.
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification or other relevant certification required.
Software:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
- Exposure to and familiarity with standard tax applications and research tools preferred.

- Organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Effective management skills and ability to delegate work assignments.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and client personnel.
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary ,500, with the specific range for Maryland, NYC/Long Island/Westchester, and Washington DC being the same.
