Job Title: Mergers & Acquisitions Tax Partner
Job Responsibilities:
The Mergers & Acquisitions Tax Partner at the company is a leadership position that involves advising clients on complex buy-side and sell-side activities, delivering high-level tax consulting, and transaction structuring services throughout the M&A lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and overseeing tax aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence, structuring, and modeling.
- Providing strategic tax consulting related to buy-side and sell-side activities.
- Advising clients on tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and divestitures, including tax-free reorganizations and Section 355 transactions.
- Leading transactional tax consulting, including Section 382 loss studies, tax treatment of transaction costs, earnings and profits calculations, and stock basis studies.
- Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of transaction-related tax compliance deliverables.
- Collaborating with deal teams, including financial, legal, and operational professionals.
- Maintaining a deep understanding of federal, state, and international tax considerations.
Client Relationship & Practice Management:
- Managing client relationships with professionalism, ensuring clear communication, mutual understanding, and alignment on deliverables, timelines, and fees.
- Serving as a trusted advisor by monitoring client service quality and value delivery, ensuring the company consistently provides high-quality work, proactive guidance, open communication, and strategic insight.
- Ensuring clients are billed appropriately, reflecting scope, value delivered, and company standards.
Business Development:
- Actively cross-selling company services by staying informed about the company's full range of offerings and capabilities, serving as a knowledgeable ambassador and a connector across service lines.
- Contributing thought leadership through articles, presentations, and webinars.
- Driving growth by identifying and pursuing opportunities in the market for tax advisory in M&A and private equity by expanding existing accounts and developing new client relationships.
- Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Developing go-to-market strategies in collaboration with the company's leadership, business development, and marketing teams.
- Establishing sales and revenue goals, and actively managing a strategic business plan and opportunity pipeline to ensure these goals are met.
Leadership, Mentorship & Staff Development:
- Providing mentoring and motivation to the team, including developing young leaders via active contribution to training and development.
- Acting as a thought leader within the company and the broader industry through knowledge sharing, technical insight, and public engagement.
- Being growth-oriented and working towards building a leveraged model, when appropriate.
- Respecting and celebrating the value of each team member’s stories, backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas by building meaningful relationships with all those they interact with.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- CPA or JD is required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience within tax at a public accounting firm or law firm, including leadership experience with a consistent record of accomplishment, accountability, and history of execution against budget and strategic initiatives.
- 8+ years of experience dedicated to providing transactional tax and related consulting services.
- Proven thought leadership, advanced technical skills, in-depth knowledge, and a concentration in transactional tax services.
Salary Information:
- Estimated Salary Range: $XX,000 - $XX,000
