Position Summary:
- Seeking a strategic and creative federal tax professional with experience in tax-exempt organizations to join Deloitte's Business Tax Services Tax-Exempt practice.
- Opportunity to work with dynamic clients in a variety of non-profit industries and provide tax compliance and consulting services.
- Half to potentially 100% of time will be spent serving non-profit clients including health care providers or plans, private foundations, public charities, higher educational institutions, and other non-profit organizations.
- Responsibilities will include maintaining and developing strong client relationships, advising on tax issues, overseeing federal tax compliance and consulting projects, and managing engagement team resources.
- Access to an elite group of specialists and strong support system from firm leadership.
- Interact and collaborate with like-minded Tax-Exempt specialists from across the country.
What You'll Do:
- Spend at least half (potentially 100%) of time serving non-profit clients.
- Provide tax compliance and consulting services including restructuring, acquisition planning, tax controversy, philanthropic tax planning, and more.
- Work directly with sophisticated clients, manage the tax engagement team, have access to an elite group of specialists when needed, and be connected to a strong support system from firm leadership.
- Interact with and work with like-minded Tax-Exempt specialists from across the country on a regular basis.
- Manage engagement workflow, engagement team resources, and engagement billing.
- Provide technical training, leadership, counseling, and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- 5+ years' experience in federal taxation with a strong emphasis on tax-exempt organizations (501(c)(3)s and 501(c)(4)s) including a combination within health care providers, health plans, private foundations, and other community organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or other business-related field.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience.
- Solid understanding and experience with federal tax compliance, tax analysis, and tax research.
- Solid understanding with respect to mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring specific to tax-exempt organizations.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Excellent presentation and communications skills.
- Strong management experience.
- Strong analytical skills.
Salary Information:
- Wage range takes into account factors such as skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
- The range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic location.
- At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
- A reasonable estimate of the current range is $84,980 to $193,440.
