Job Description:
As the Income/Franchise Tax Manager at Grant Thornton, you will have the opportunity to deliver a full range of tax planning, consulting, and compliance services for multiple clients. You will work with a collaborative team and lead staff on various tax matters, using high quality tools and resources to excel in your role. Your responsibilities will include managing, developing, training, and mentoring staff on tax projects, providing expertise in State and Local Tax services, and consulting with clients to make recommendations for business improvement. Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct, and monitor multiple client services teams on client engagements
- Plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries
- Provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients
- Manage budget for projects
- Develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
- Deliver a full range of State and Local Tax services including tax return preparation and review, tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, and counseling client in defending against state audits
- Manage multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives, and corporate structures that can reduce the client's tax burden
- Consult with clients to make recommendations on business and process improvement
- Support business development activities, such as identification, proposal development, and other pursuit activities at clients
- Manage various project tasks and be ultimately responsible for the overall project and deliverable
- Strong computer skills required
- Ability to travel as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum six years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience
- Active CPA license, JD with active law license in good standing, or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage various project tasks and be ultimately responsible for the overall project and deliverable
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to travel as needed
