Job Title:

Senior Associate – Municipal/Land Use (Onsite)

Experience Information:

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in land use, zoning, and municipal law, preferably within New York State.

Job Summary:

The Law Firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Land Use and Municipal Department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in land use, zoning, environmental law, and municipal law, with the ability to manage complex cases and provide strategic legal counsel to clients. This role requires excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of New York State and local laws.

Responsibilities:

- Provide comprehensive legal advice on land use, zoning, planning, and municipal matters
- Manage a diverse caseload, including litigation and transactional matters
- Represent clients in meetings with municipal boards, agencies, and in court
- Draft, review, and revise complex legal documents
- Advise clients on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships
- Work closely with partners, associates, and paralegals
- Stay current with developments in land use and municipal law

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in land use, zoning, and municipal law
- Strong litigation experience with a proven track record
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Commitment to ethical practice and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working with municipal boards or government agencies
- Familiarity with New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA)
- Experience in business development and client management
