Job Summary:

The Legal Specialist II at Elevance Health provides legal support services for multiple states, enterprise-wide functions, and complex litigation. This role requires a recognized area of specialization and knowledge specific to the company. The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of an Elevance Health location and work a hybrid model of remote and office work.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare, analyze, and evaluate legal documents such as contracts, legal memorandum, objections to subpoenas, regulatory filings, and pleadings
- Conduct legal research and analysis, and recommend appropriate course of action
- Perform fact checking, gather documents, and respond to subpoenas and record requests
- Monitor state and federal legislation affecting the corporation and assist with regulatory governance and compliance issues
- Attend and represent company at appropriate legal proceedings and participate in negotiations
- Enter information into appropriate databases or document management systems

Minimum Requirements:

- 5 years of legal or related experience

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

- Experience creating multi-state surveys of laws and regulations
- Familiarity with state and federal insurance and healthcare-related laws and regulations
- Knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
- Experience working with provider contracts
