Job Title: Workers Compensation/Personal Injury Legal Assistant (LA) / Paralegal Salary: Commensurate based on experience Experience: Position Summary: - Responsible for handling all aspects of workers compensation and/or personal injury cases - Must have excellent organizational and communication skills - Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality and professionalism - Support the Kanoski Bresney (KB) mission and values Responsibilities: - Receive intake calls and conduct client intake interviews - Manage and organize client files - Transcription and composition of routine letters and documents - Filing, copying, scanning, and file set up - Work with medical records and other documents - Maintain attorney calendar and schedule appointments - Prepare documentation for files - Conduct research to support legal proceedings - Act as a liaison between client and attorney - Prepare discovery documents, legal pleadings, and correspondence - Review and analyze medical records and other documents - Assist attorney with trial preparation - Communicate with clients, courts, witnesses, and third-parties - Ability to work independently and meet time sensitive goals - Knowledge of MS Office Applications Requirements: - Detail-oriented and self-starter - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) - Experience with legal management software - Ability to organize daily activities and work as a team player Additional Information: - Full-time position, Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM with an hour for lunch - Must be able to work from one of the following office locations: Bloomington, Champaign, Decatur, Macomb, Quincy, Rushville, or Springfield, IL - if qualified Kanoski Bresney Law Firm is seeking a Workers Compensation/Personal Injury Legal Assistant (LA) / Paralegal with at least 2 years of experience in worker's compensation and/or personal injury cases. The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities of this position include handling all aspects of workers compensation and/or personal injury cases, such as opening and processing cases, creating and requesting supporting documents, and maintaining attorney calendars. The candidate must also have the ability to work with medical records and other documents, conduct research, and prepare legal documents and correspondence. In addition, the candidate must support the Kanoski Bresney (KB) mission and values, and foster a positive work environment by building effective relationships and delivering high-quality, client-focused results. The candidate must also be able to work from one of the following office locations: Bloomington, Champaign, Decatur, Macomb, Quincy, Rushville, or Springfield, IL. Requirements for this position include at least 2 years of prior worker's compensation and/or personal injury experience, proficiency in legal management software, and knowledge of MS Office Applications. The candidate must also be detail-oriented, a self-starter, and possess a great work attitude. The work hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with an hour for lunch.
