A law firm in Novi, MI, is actively seeking a highly experienced Data Privacy/Mobility Attorney with a passion for emerging transportation technology and a deep understanding of data privacy regulations. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of legal practice experience, possess strong regulatory and transactional skills, and demonstrate expertise in data privacy. This role involves advising on emerging domestic and international data privacy regulations, particularly in the context of technology companies and advanced mobility.

Duties:

  • Draft and review data protection impact assessments, privacy policies, and product-specific privacy notices.
  • Assist in implementing policies and procedures for responding to consumer rights requests and data breaches.
  • Review vendor and customer contracts, specifically focusing on security and data privacy issues.
  • Provide legal counsel to mobility and technology providers regarding domestic and international data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Stay well-versed in emerging data privacy regulations and trends related to technology companies and advanced mobility.
  • Utilize expertise to advise on the legal aspects of emerging transportation technology.
  • Maintain excellent academic credentials and apply legal knowledge to practical situations.
  • Ensure outstanding client service through effective communication and legal counsel.

Requirements:

  • Over 10 years of legal practice experience.
  • Strong regulatory and/or transactional skills with expertise in data privacy and emerging transportation technology.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Outstanding client service skills.
  • Current or pending CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) certification is preferred.
  • Admission to the Michigan Bar is preferred.
  • Consideration for candidates admitted to practice in other jurisdictions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Current or pending CIPP certification is preferred.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of domestic and international data privacy regulations.
  • Expertise in drafting and reviewing data protection impact assessments, privacy policies, and product-specific privacy notices.
  • Experience advising on data breaches and responding to consumer rights requests.
  • Ability to review contracts with a focus on security and data privacy issues.
