The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Child Support Officer IV to join their Child Support Division (CSD). The Child Support Officer IV will conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establish paternity, and obtain court orders for financial support and health care coverage for children. This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour work week and may require up to 5% travel. The salary for this position is between $4, - $4, per month. This position is open only to current OAG employees. The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. As a Child Support Officer IV, you will be responsible for conducting detailed in-office investigations to locate parties, verifying employment and determining assets. You will also prepare legal and administrative documents related to child support orders, negotiate lump sum payments from noncustodial parents, and monitor child support cases for delinquent payments. You will also document all case actions using appropriate agency tools and maintain accurate virtual files for each case. Other responsibilities include attending court to assist legal staff, providing training and technical assistance to office staff, and responding to customer inquiries and complaints. To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of full-time experience in the Child Support Program, credit collections, investigations, legal assistant, legal secretary, customer service, or IV-A eligibility specialist fields. One of the two years of experience must be as a Child Support Officer or an equivalent position in a IV-D agency or private sector. You must also have knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, child support policies, procedures, and processes, and the ability to use a personal computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval. Additionally, you must have strong communication, decision-making, and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a professional office environment. You must also be able to travel up to 15% and lift and relocate up to 30 lbs. The preferred qualifications for this position include a bachelor's degree and proficiency in Spanish.
