Job Title:
Patent Engineer/Agent (Video Encoding)

Salary:
Starting salary for patent engineer and agent positions in our Denver office is $90,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house is required. Ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and must have experience with video processing and video codecs. Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus.

Location:
Multiple offices across the United States – Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Denver, Raleigh, or Salt Lake City.

- Seeking a Patent Engineer or Agent to join our Intellectual Property Practice Group at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP
- Opportunity to work with a full-service law firm with over 350 lawyers and technical professionals
- Work with clients in various industries including trade associations, nonprofits, educational institutions, governments, family trusts, and high-net-worth individuals
- Offices located in Wisconsin, Illinois, Utah, Colorado, Texas, North Carolina, and Washington .
- Responsibilities include patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management
- Ideal candidate will have experience with video processing and video codecs, as well as virtual/augmented reality and AI
- Must have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering

Job Requirements:
- 2+ years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- Strong knowledge and experience in video processing and video codecs
- Familiar with video coding standards
- Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus
- Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
- Admission to the USPTO is a plus

- Ability to work independently and within a team
