The law firm is seeking a Mid-level Patent Agent to join its team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, possess solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and excel in both written and verbal communication.
Duties:
- Conducting patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.
- Collaborating with inventors, attorneys, and clients to understand and articulate complex technical concepts.
- Analyzing and interpreting patent-related documents, including prior art, to support patent prosecution efforts.
- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses.
Requirements:
- Bachelor or advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
- Admission to the USPTO is required.
- 4+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
- Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.
Preferred Experience:
- Patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
- Experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.
