Investigation Specialist I - Career Service - $36,

The Florida Commission on Human Relations is currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Investigation Specialist to join our Employment Investigations Section. As an Investigation Specialist I, you will play a crucial role in ensuring fair treatment and equal opportunity for all individuals in the state of Florida by investigating complaints of discrimination in areas such as employment, housing, public accommodations, and state employee whistle-blower retaliation. This position offers a competitive salary of $36, and a generous benefits package including vacation and sick leave, retirement, health insurance, and more!

Responsibilities:
• Conduct investigations into discrimination cases within the state of Florida
• Gather and record accurate information through interviews and correspondence with parties involved in the investigation
• Conduct research and collect facts about assigned complaints
• Write detailed investigative reports within statutory timeframes
• Testify and appear before Commission panels, civil court proceedings, and administrative hearings regarding investigative findings and recommendations

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in legal or paralegal work, investigative work, human relations, human resources, regulatory inspections, social work, personnel, education, counseling, affirmative action (AA), equal employment opportunity (EEO), or in working in the juvenile or adult criminal justice system
• Experience conducting fact-finding interviews and writing detailed reports
• Knowledge of basic investigation techniques, rules of evidence, and court procedures
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and make independent decisions
