Job Overview:

The Junior-Mid Level Benefits Associate Attorney will provide legal support and counsel in various aspects of benefits and compensation law. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative team environment while handling diverse and complex legal matters.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and support in matters related to qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and executive & deferred compensation arrangements.
  • Assist in supporting benefits and compensation issues in M&A transactions.
  • Handle ERISA litigation matters and withdrawal liability cases.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on benefits and compensation laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and plan documents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to address legal issues and provide strategic advice.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of benefits experience in private practice.
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Detail-oriented with strong writing, oral advocacy, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving legal standards and firm needs.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
  • Confidence in identifying and analyzing complex legal issues and providing solutions.
  • Agility to respond to unexpected challenges and innovate as needed.
