The Energy & Climate Solutions team at Wilson Sonsini is dedicated to addressing climate change through innovative deal-making and independent thought. Our practice focuses on clean energy project development and finance, and we are committed to promoting competition in the energy industry. We are seeking candidates who share our mission and are passionate about decarbonizing and increasing efficiencies in various sectors, including electricity, fuels, transportation, industrial, water, agricultural, and technology. As an Energy & Climate Solutions Associate, you will have the opportunity to work with independent power companies on developing, transacting, and financing clean energy projects and grid-edge technologies. You will also assist clients in developing technologies and business models that contribute to the energy transition. This role requires a strong understanding of the Federal Power Act, specifically in relation to independent power producers. You should have experience with RTO/ISO market design, Section 203 applications, Section 205 rate filings, Section 206 complaints, energy market compliance and reporting, PURPA, and FERC's regulation of project interconnection, transmission, and shared facilities matters. Key Responsibilities: - Assist clients in developing clean energy projects and technologies - Conduct research and draft persuasive FERC pleadings - Stay updated on relevant regulations and policies related to the energy industry - Collaborate with team members to provide creative solutions for clients - Participate in client meetings and negotiations - Maintain strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders Qualifications: - - Strong understanding of the Federal Power Act and related regulations - Excellent writing and research skills - Ability to work independently and in a team environment - Passion for addressing climate change and promoting clean energy - Experience with clean energy project development and finance is a plus - Admission to the DC bar is preferred At Wilson Sonsini, we value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for all employees.
