A law firm seeks an experienced patent prosecution associate to join its team in Washington, . This is a fantastic opportunity for an associate with 3-5 years of experience to work on a wide range of patent matters, collaborating closely with clients and inventors at all stages of the patent lifecycle. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies within Electrical & Computer Technologies and the chance to manage both domestic and international patent applications.

Duties:

  • Work directly with clients and inventors throughout the entire patent process, ensuring clear communication at each stage.
  • Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications in the . and globally.
  • Conduct patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses to assess innovation opportunities and risks.
  • Assist in various additional patent-related projects as required.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Strong understanding of patent law and experience managing multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Experience interacting with inventors and clients and advising on patent strategies.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload while delivering timely and high-quality results.

Education:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Eligible for admission in Washington, . (or other applicable jurisdictions).

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both legal and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Experience with a range of technical disciplines, particularly in electrical engineering, computer science, or similar fields, is highly desirable.
