Salaries may vary by location. In Southern California, the estimated target salary range for this role is $106,000 - $119,000, in addition to bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefit package. Salary determinations are based on various factors, such as the relevant market and the selected candidate's skill, experience, and education.

Job Summary:
A corporate legal secretary at Sidley Austin LLP is responsible for providing administrative support to lawyers and other legal personnel. This includes typing, formatting, and finalizing documents, managing multiple assignments, coordinating travel arrangements, proofreading, and maintaining client files. The legal secretary must also maintain effective office procedures and work harmoniously with all personnel, clients, vendors, and guests of the firm.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Types, formats, edits, and finalizes documents for both transactional and litigation clients, following the firm's document formatting standards using legal-specific software.
- Manages multiple lawyer-assignments and organizes clerical functions to meet administrative and client needs.
- Coordinates the onboarding of new clients, from processing conflicts to assigning billing information, in an expedited and accurate manner.
- Enters and proofreads lawyers' time entries, ensuring compliance with client billing requirements and firm policy.
- Coordinates travel arrangements for lawyers and clients, including air, hotel, and ground transportation, and processes lawyers' travel expenses.
- Proofreads all documents for accuracy of copy, grammar, punctuation, and syntax, and checks for accuracy of jobs sent to duplicating service.
- Receives and screens telephone calls and messages, and works with various audio and video software to calendar and create calls on behalf of assignments.
- Coordinates the production, processing, and delivery of work products through various services.
- Coordinates client billing with billing services as needed.
- Obtains cases from the library and makes copies as requested.
- Maintains a safe and organized work area, including a neat desk.
- Maintains client files and other files in accordance with firm standards.
- Performs secretarial functions, such as transcribing dictation, processing reports, and preparing notebooks and exhibits.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
- Legal experience in Corporate and Finance practice area.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with three or more years of related work experience and/or training.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office, legal terminology and formats, and other legal software.

Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Typing accuracy of 60 words per minute.
