A reputable law firm is seeking a talented and motivated Business Litigation Associate to join its Des Moines office. This position offers an exciting opportunity to practice in all phases of general commercial, civil, and business litigation matters. The firm serves a diverse, national, and international client base, providing excellent exposure to complex litigation issues. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 5 years of experience, including recent clerkship or law firm experience, and a strong passion for litigation.

Duties

• Handle general commercial, civil, and business litigation matters
• Assist in all phases of litigation, from pre-trial to post-trial
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies
• Engage in discovery and motion practice
• Prepare and present legal arguments in court or before arbitrators
• Work closely with senior attorneys on high-stakes litigation cases
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the litigation process
• Provide legal counsel on business-related legal issues

Requirements

• 1 to 5 years of experience in business litigation (recent clerkship or law firm experience preferred)
• Active membership in the Iowa Bar
• Excellent academic credentials
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Exceptional writing and analytical abilities
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively within a team
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Admission to the Iowa State Bar (or eligibility to obtain membership)
