Law Firm Seeking Experienced Patent Specialist Are you an experienced patent specialist looking for a new opportunity? We are currently seeking a Patent Specialist to join our Intellectual Property Department in our Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Houston, Dallas, or Denver office. As part of our team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, you will play an integral role in providing high-level service to both internal and external clients. This position will focus on US patent prosecution and patent matters, including US and PCT filings, deadline management, and special projects. You will collaborate with peers, assume ownership of assigned tasks and workload, and report to attorneys as needed. Key Responsibilities: - Provide support for US patent prosecution and collaborate with attorneys, patent specialists, paralegals, and clients - Prepare, review, and file US and PCT patent applications, responses, and issue fees - Draft correspondence to clients regarding the status of patent applications and matters - Report USPTO and PCT correspondence and notifications, such as publications, recordation of assignments, office actions, IDS, missing parts, petitions, notice of allowances, and more - Manage client portfolios, including preparing and maintaining status reports and charts, acting as a single point of contact for clients, and providing assistance - Handle IDS and IDS reference management using contracted resources as needed - Monitor deadlines, communicate and follow up with appropriate parties, and ensure timely completion of related activities - Review, organize, and file documents and emails in the firm's document management system according to protocols - Complete special projects as assigned - Perform a variety of administrative support tasks related to patent prosecution - Support client services, including preparing and processing reports, coordinating meetings, and meeting with client patent paralegals - Report filings and notifications to clients through client portal - Review client proformas, make edits, and finalize for attorney - Maintain accurate daily time records for billing and statistical purposes Required Qualifications: - Minimum of 2 years of experience as a patent prosecution paralegal, legal secretary, or comparable position in a law firm or in-house legal environment - Experience with electronic filing procedures at the USPTO - Excellent knowledge of USPTO and PCT rules and procedures - High proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, USPTO Electronic Filing System, Dialog, and other internet research tools - Working knowledge of timekeeping software (InTapp), iManage, FoundationIP, and Claim Master - Strong client service skills and willingness to collaborate with others and take on assignments - Ability to compose routine correspondence - Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects simultaneously - Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information - Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure - Respectful of colleagues and able to work well in a team environment - Reliable, dependable, and positive team player - Ability to plan and prioritize effectively, with strong attention to detail and ability to organize and meet deadlines - Action and results-oriented - Effective written and oral communication skills - Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete projects - Sense of urgency in responding to client requests and meeting deadlines - Strong work ethic, flexibility, dependability, and positive attitude - Willingness to adapt to change In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, short-term disability plans, and retirement plans.
