Job Overview
A law firm seeks a highly experienced Senior Associate Attorney with expertise in nonprofit law to join their growing team in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of nonprofit organizations, including governance, tax-exempt status, and business matters. As part of a dynamic team, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with nonprofit clients to provide comprehensive legal services, including contract drafting, legal research, and team leadership.

Duties

  • Advise nonprofit organizations on legal matters throughout their lifecycle, including incorporation, operations, and dissolution.
  • Provide expert guidance on nonprofit governance, tax-exempt status, and business-related matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as mergers, asset transfers, contracts (both simple and complex), and policies tailored to nonprofit organizations.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and offer detailed, insightful legal opinions.
  • Lead and manage a team of support professionals, ensuring high-quality service delivery to clients.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Minnesota state bar.
  • At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit business and tax law, with a preference for 5-7 years of overall legal experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal nonprofit laws and regulations.
  • Strong familiarity with Minnesota’s employment laws and regulations (preferred).
  • Familiarity with data privacy and protection laws (a plus).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Minnesota state bar.
