Position Overview


Law Firm is looking for a Patent Prosecution Associate to join their team in Austin, New York, Orange County or Washington, . The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of patent prosecution experience, a BS in computer science and coursework at graduate or undergraduate level in artificial intelligence, virtual reality, machine learning, natural language processing, blockchain, and/or bioinformatics. An advanced degree with a focus in artificial intelligence is preferred and prior technical experience at an AI company or startup is helpful.

Job Description


The Patent Prosecution Associate will provide legal advice and counsel on patent prosecution matters including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, patentability and infringement opinions, and patent opinions. The role will involve working with patent attorneys and clients to develop and implement strategies for protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights.

Responsibilities



  • Conduct patent searches and analyze patentability of inventions

  • Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications

  • Prepare and review patent infringement and validity opinions

  • Provide advice and counsel on patent and intellectual property law matters

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies

  • Advise clients on potential risks and liabilities related to patent prosecution

  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff in the preparation of patent applications

  • Conduct legal research and analysis

  • Provide technical support for patent prosecution matters

  • Assist in the development of strategies for protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights

  • Assist in the preparation and review of patent documents

  • Attend and participate in client meetings, seminars, and conferences



Skills and Qualifications



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree with a focus in artificial intelligence is preferred

  • Experience: 2-3 years of patent prosecution experience; prior technical experience at an AI company or startup is helpful

  • Coursework: Coursework at graduate or undergraduate level in artificial intelligence, virtual reality, machine learning, natural language processing, blockchain, and/or bioinformatics

  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong legal research and analytical skills; knowledge of patent laws and regulations; ability to work independently and as part of a team; attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
