For more information about this policy, please visit our website at . • Job Title: Child Support Officer IV • Experience: 2 years • Salary: $4, - $4, (Monthly) • Location: Austin, Texas • Department: Child Support Division • Organization: Office of the Attorney General • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week • Travel: 5% of the time • Job Code: 5543 • Grade: 17 • Employment Status: Regular • Overtime Status: Non-exempt Child Support Officers (CSOs) at the Office of the Attorney General’s Child Support Division (CSD) are responsible for conducting detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establishing paternity, obtaining court orders for financial support and healthcare coverage for children, enforcing child support orders, and promoting parental involvement in their children’s lives. They also collaborate with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families. This position is for CURRENT OAG EMPLOYEES ONLY, and it offers a salary range of $4, - $4, per month. H1: Join Our Mission-Driven Team as a Child Support Officer IV H2: Make a Positive Impact on Texas Families • Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents, verify employment, and determine assets • Prepare legal and administrative documents to establish or enforce child support orders • Negotiate lump sum payments from noncustodial parents • Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for enforcement actions • Document all case actions using appropriate agency tools • Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy • Attend court to assist legal staff • Research case information using computer systems • Stay current on child support policies and procedures, Texas Family Law, and federal and state regulations • Assess child support cases and determine appropriate actions • Assign and monitor work of assigned staff as team leader • Provide training and technical assistance to office staff • Supervise office staff in the absence of office manager/supervisor • Explain Child Support Program policies and procedures to customers • Respond to complex customer inquiries and complaints with impartiality • Serve as Notary Public • Comply with all agency policies and procedures • Attend work regularly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information • Work collaboratively in a professional office environment • Provide excellent customer service • Travel up to 15% of the time • Lift and relocate up to 30 lbs. • Type 35 words per minute QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or equivalent • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience) • 2 years of full-time experience in child support, credit collections, investigations, legal assistance, or customer service (1 year must be as a Child Support Officer or equivalent in an IV-D agency or private sector) • Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, child support policies and procedures, and basic math • Skill in interviewing, negotiating, and using a personal computer • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written • Ability to work cooperatively with others • Ability to work in person at assigned OAG location and travel as needed • Ability to arrange personal transportation for business-related travel • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed • Ability to pass a criminal background check PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university • Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish TO APPLY: To apply for this position, please submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit or Work in Texas.
