Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking an Attorney to manage a diverse caseload primarily focused on corporate health claims. The role involves filing appeals, navigating complex administrative processes, and advocating for clients with health insurers and governmental payers.
Job Duties:
- Manage a substantial caseload of corporate health claims, including underpaid or denied medical claims.
- File written appeals through administrative processes to resolve payment disputes with health insurers and governmental payers.
- Quickly and efficiently review medical records and prepare well-written appeals.
- Conduct follow-up telephone communications with insurers and payers, demonstrating professionalism and assertiveness.
- Navigate various computer systems to retrieve and analyze information related to insurance claims.
- Navigate unfamiliar jurisdictions and administrative processes to appeal and settle claims effectively.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate and graduate degree in Law with a GPA of or higher.
- Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and ability to learn new software quickly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, high attention to detail.
- Clear, concise, and logical writing style.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience or coursework in biological sciences or healthcare is desirable.
- Previous experience in a clinical healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Leadership qualities to advise clients and support staff (legal assistants, paralegals).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnostic procedures is advantageous.
Certifications (if applicable):
