Legal Specialist Sr. at Elevance Health: Job Description and Responsibilities

- Location: Hybrid workplace model with remote work and 1-2 days in office per week
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location
- Responsible for providing legal support services for multiple Medicaid states, enterprise-wide functions, and/or complex litigation
- Leads support staff and serves as a seasoned resource
- Prepares and evaluates legal documentation, conducts legal research and analysis, and recommends appropriate courses of action
- Handles fact-checking, gathers documents, and responds to subpoenas, records requests, and inquiries
- Monitors state and federal legislation and attends legal proceedings and meetings
- Applies business knowledge and technical expertise to improve practices and participate in negotiations
- Enters information into databases and handles Provider Contracting for Medicaid markets

Minimum Requirements:

- Paralegal Certification or AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field
- 10 years of legal or related experience

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

- Experience in Medicaid or other government programs
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel
