This is an exciting opportunity to join MoFo's premier Appellate practice and gain valuable experience in the legal field. Key Responsibilities: - Assist with preparing and filing briefs and appendices before the Supreme Court of the United States and various federal and state appellate courts. - Review trial court files and prepare index of documents and materials that constitute the record on appeal. - Cite-check all authorities cited in appellate briefs. - Maintain calendar of deadlines for all live appeals. - Draft preliminary appellate case opening filings, non-substantive motions, certificates of service and compliance. - Assist with data collection and data visualization efforts for both appellate blogs. - Arrange for visual aids, models, or other record documents for use in oral argument. - Develop and maintain reference library for administrative information and court rules. Ideal Candidate: - required. - Ability to commit to 2+ years in the role before pursing law school or other ventures. - Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines under direct supervision. - Strong sense of accountability and taking ownership over projects. - High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing work product. - Ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects; flexibility in shifting focus. - Excellent writing and communication skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. - Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business and client needs required.
