Office of General Counsel Intern - Full-Time Temporary Position at Insurance Fund, State

Salary Range: $21 to $25 Hourly

Job Specifics:
- Must have completed 2 years at an accredited law school in New York State prior to summer 2024
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of or equivalent
- Strong computer research skills and writing/editing skills
- Desire to work in public service
- Must be able to work full-time summer and part-time fall and spring

Responsibilities:
- Drafting motions, deposition preparation, and legal research and writing
- Reviewing ethics inquiries and drafting appeals
- Reviewing and responding to FOIL requests
- Providing legal guidance to Executive Management on initiatives and business issues
- Handling premium collection matters and contract procurement
- Ensuring compliance with legal obligations related to ethics and financial disclosure
- Appearing at Workers' Compensation Board hearings and litigating claims
- Providing advice on matters involving employee conduct and collective bargaining agreements
- Defense of employers in third-party suits and assisting with litigation matters
- Loss transfer matters stemming from motor-vehicle accidents
