# Paralegal - Bankruptcy ## Job Overview Burr & Forman LLP has an immediate opening for a full-time, experienced paralegal with experience in bankruptcy/creditors rights in their Orlando, FL office. The work is interesting and important, and the firm offers a highly collaborative culture in a familiar environment. ## Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to: * Perform complex administrative duties that require knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes in state and federal court * Prepare, edit, and/or draft correspondence, reports, and legal documents * Plan, schedule and attend conferences, depositions, and/or meetings as needed * Conduct initial client interview to include mechanics and procedures, statutory exemptions, analysis of debt v. asset picture, classifications of debts, and choices of bankruptcy relief available * Participate in the discovery process including drafting responses and requests; draft and analyze UCC information * Proficient with Westlaw or Lexis and with PACER, and capable of performing legal research, people/entity searches, UCC lien searches, and property searches * Draft judgment searches, information regarding real estate, lien exhibits, flow statements, and advance sheets, and review clerk’s docket and claims register * Draft appropriate petitions, applications, stipulations, schedules of debts, assets, statements of affairs, reaffirmation agreements, transmittal letters, foreclosure documents, judgments, garnishments, writs, releases, motions, notices, proposed orders, and additional pleadings * Assist in trial preparation to prepare chronologies and summaries, witness and exhibit lists, trial exhibits, witness preparation, schedules, notebooks, and subpoenas, and coordinate with witnesses before and during trial * Use CT Advantage, LEXIS, Westlaw, and SOS databases on the internet, etc. to locate organizational, financial, and current status information regarding corporate entities * Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as needed ## Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position will possess: * At least 3 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department environment * * Experience in the area of bankruptcy/creditors rights is required * Knowledge of electronic filing procedures and ability to file electronically in state and federal courts is required * Proficiency with Word 2016, use of dictation equipment, and 50 wpm typing required * Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and a team player who takes ownership * Ability to balance competing priorities and work effectively under pressure * Strong verbal and written communication skills ## Salary and Benefits Burr & Forman offers a competitive salary and benefits package. ## Equal Employment Opportunity Burr & Forman is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to recruiting, hiring, developing, and promoting lawyers and staff without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, military and protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, transgender status, sex stereotyping, or disability.
