The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is currently seeking a Legal Assistant III or IV for the Tort Litigation Division. This position is based in Austin, Texas and offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits. The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. As the State’s law firm, the OAG provides exemplary legal representation in diverse areas of law. This role involves researching, analyzing, investigating, and drafting legal documents and assisting attorneys with case management. The Legal Assistant III will also participate in coordinating discovery, maintaining case information, and preparing for trial. The Legal Assistant IV will additionally conduct statistical, documentary, and investigatory research and may supervise the work of others. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. They should also have at least one year of full-time legal assistant experience and knowledge of office procedures in a legal setting. Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills are essential for this role. The ability to work well with others, provide excellent customer service, and lift up to 30 lbs is also required. Those with a graduation certificate for legal assistants, legal assistant experience in civil litigation with the TX Attorney General or other state agency, and knowledge of legal terminology and principles will be preferred.
