This full-time position, located in Washington, DC, will provide support to the practice group partners while also having significant client responsibilities. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of domestic and foreign clients, as well as engage in practice development activities to build and maintain client relationships. Responsibilities:

Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office
Conduct prior art searches and analysis
Analyze patentability, novelty, and inventiveness
Perform IP due diligence
Assist in patent clearance studies and other patent-related opinion projects
Engage in practice development activities to build and maintain client relationships
Prepare substantive client correspondence
Instruct local counsel for foreign filings and Office Actions
Convert prior provisional applications into utility applications
Convert foreign filed applications into . applications
Convert . applications into foreign applications

Qualifications:

Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Chemistry preferred, or another biological field such as Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, or Biomedical Engineering
Excellent academic credentials
At least one year of experience as a practicing patent agent in the life sciences field
Registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office
Strong writing and research abilities
Proficiency in written and verbal communication
Strong organizational skills
