## Senior Counsel, Employment

Tesla is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Counsel with a minimum of 10+ years of employment law experience to provide strategic, high-level employment legal advice and guidance to various internal business and HR teams. This position requires a strong work ethic, including experience in managing a large number of internal requests, outstanding time management skills and the ability to prioritize a heavy workload efficiently.

### Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice and guidance on all aspects of employment law including but not limited to, hiring, recruiting, termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, leave and disability accommodation, workers compensation, non-competition, employee benefits and other employment related issues.
* Advise on and participate in the resolution of employment-related disputes and investigations.
* Work on ad hoc legal employment law related projects, including but not limited to offer letters, policies, trainings, templates and processes.
* Support the HR teams by handling compliance, employee issues, internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts and labor matters.
* Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures.
* Handle legal demand letters and other disputes.
* Lead and collaborate with cross-functional partners on complex projects to sustain and enhance employment law compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
* Develop and conduct training for managers and employees on employment-related topics.
* Work closely with specialized outside counsel to manage risk and ensure that internal partners receive effective, business-focused employment law support.
* Provide legal guidance and training on employment and labor issues to HR and management
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.

### Qualifications
* Member in good standing with the California or Texas bar or ability to register as an in-house counsel.
* Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience with a focus on employment law, including experience in a senior legal role in-house.
* Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
* Extensive experience advising on sophisticated HR issues, both in house and law firm.
* Ability to provide practical legal advice tailored to the client business and legal support on multi-jurisdictional issues/projects.
* Flexible, well-organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced technology environment.
* Ability and desire to work independently and with little oversight is a must.
* Ability to make fast and sound decisions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Organizational and planning skills with the capacity to simultaneously handle a variety of complex matters under strict deadlines and pressure.
* Ability to form strong working relationship with internal business partners and participate in and influence the decision-making process while maintaining firm adherence to legal standards and company’s policies and positions.
* Ability to manage and supervise other legal staff.
* Client counseling experience required, and employment litigation experience preferred.

Expected Compensation:

$136,000 - $465,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
