Faegre Drinker, a leading law firm, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Patent Agent with a background in Mechanical Engineering to join our growing Intellectual Property practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of patent preparation and prosecution matters in our various office locations, including Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Wilmington. Key Responsibilities: - Draft and prosecute patent applications related to mechanical engineering, including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, control systems, consumer products, and medical devices - Collaborate with clients and team members to develop and implement patent strategies - Conduct patentability and freedom to operate searches and analysis - Prepare and respond to office actions from the USPTO - Communicate with inventors and clients to understand and protect their inventions - Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments Requirements: - Two or more years of experience drafting mechanical patent applications - Background in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field - Current status as a registered patent agent - Strong writing skills and attention to detail - Ability to work collaboratively in a client-focused, team-oriented environment - Excellent academic credentials - Professional recommendations Compensation and Benefits: - Competitive salary range of $95,000 - $185,000, with potential for higher or lower based on relevant skills, experience, and location - Discretionary bonus - Life, health, accident, and disability insurance - 401(k) plan To Apply: If you are interested in joining a growing and collaborative firm, please apply online and include a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and academic transcripts.
