Job Summary:

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our legal team and provide support to our staff attorneys. This is an exciting and demanding role that will involve diverse legal support functions. The successful candidate will assist in legal research, responding to subpoenas, monitoring legislation, drafting legal documents, and other administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

- Respond to subpoenas, including document retrieval, review for privileged materials, and communication with outside counsel
- Assist in creating and maintaining 50 state surveys, particularly in relation to regulatory and compliance issues
- Review new and pending legislation and advise management on its applicability to the organization
- Support Travelers' OFAC and economic trade sanction compliance programs
- Review and organize company records
- Review marketing materials for compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate and track responses to insurance department and consumer complaints
- Conduct online research using tools such as Westlaw and Lexus Nexus
- Assist with drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents and agreements
- Data and document entry into electronic databases and spreadsheets
- Respond to customer, agent, and other external inquiries and correspondence

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong grammar and writing skills
- Knowledge of insurance or surety industry is a plus
- Resourceful research and analytical skills
- Bilingual skills are helpful
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Experience with online research tools such as Westlaw and Lexus Nexus
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality
- Paralegal certification from an ABA-Certified program preferred

Requirements:

- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal or related work experience
- OR Associate/Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA-Certified program and one year of paralegal or related work experience
