Law Firm Seeking Business Intake & Conflicts Specialist (Laterals): Salary, Job Title, and Experience Information Salary: The expected hourly pay range for this position is - , depending on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate. Job Title: Business Intake & Conflicts Specialist (Laterals) Experience: 3+ years direct applicable years’ experience (., previous BIC department, legal secretary, paralegal or executive assistant) Position Summary: The Business Intake & Conflicts Specialist (Laterals) is responsible for ensuring compliance with ethical obligations and risk management policies, avoiding malpractice claims and ethical violations, and onboarding new business, including clients, matters, timekeepers, and employees. They will work closely with the Associate Director of Conflicts, other Directors and Managers, and the Conflicts Staff Attorneys to assist with research, policy and procedure drafting, lateral candidate submission coordination, and operations functions. Position Responsibilities: - Review incoming conflict check submission forms for firm-wide attorneys, paralegals, and staff - Create lateral folders and maintain lateral spreadsheets - Communicate with recruiting/HR, attorneys, and other department members regarding lateral intake - Monitor the Business Intake & Conflicts inbox and respond to inquiries about the status of requests - Run conflict reports as needed - Process and quality control assigned intake review queues - Assist with the review and filing of waiver and engagement letters - Provide training to new BIC hires and lead/manage system and information clean-up projects - Understand and conduct research on ethical obligations and conflicts of interest - Other duties as assigned or required Skills and Experience: Required: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, and other firm applications - Available to work overtime as required - 3+ years direct applicable experience - Strong computer skills Preferred: - Bachelor’s degree - Paralegal certificate - Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment Competencies: - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to work independently with little supervision - Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment - Punctual and reliable Benefits: Cooley offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, parental leave and fertility benefits, and paid time off.
