Job Title: Legal Specialist Sr.

Experience:

- Minimum of 10 years of legal or related experience.
- Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field is required.
- Experience in Medicaid or other government programs is preferred.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
- Skilled in the use of Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Lead support staff and provide legal support services for multiple Medicaid states, enterprise-wide functions, and/or the most complex litigation.
- Prepare and evaluate legal documentation to resolve problems, close transactions, and/or maintain good corporate governance.
- Conduct legal research and analysis and recommend appropriate courses of action.
- Perform fact-checking, gather documents, respond to subpoenas and records requests, and coordinate investigative and discovery activities.
- Serve as a lead in the investigation and resolution of the most complex cases.
- Monitor state and federal legislation affecting the corporation and develop/implement recommendations.
- Attend and represent the company at legal proceedings, arbitration hearings, and subsidiary company board meetings.
- Apply business knowledge and technical expertise to optimize solutions and improve practices.
- Participate in projects and negotiations with business and staff.
- Enter information into appropriate databases or document management systems.
- Handle Provider Contracting for Medicaid markets.

Location:

- Elevance Health supports a hybrid workplace model with remote work and 1-2 days in office per week.
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
- Locations include California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington State, and Jersey City, NJ.
