Law Firm Seeks Government Contracts Associate

McCarter and English, a Chambers-ranked law firm, is currently seeking a skilled and proactive Government Contracts Associate to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and diligent individual with a strong background in government contracts to advance their career with a reputable firm.

Highlights of the role:

- Strong analytical and writing skills required
- Experience with bid protests, cybersecurity, and acquisition regulation (FAR and DFARS) compliance preferred
- Knowledge of drafting REAs and claims, related claims analysis and counseling, and CDA claim litigation
- Familiarity with federal subcontracting and related dispute and flow-down/compliance issues
- Experience with aerospace/defense, infrastructure/construction, life sciences/pharmaceutical, and/or manufacturing industries a plus
- Ability to work independently and take on responsibility for certain matters
- Strong academic background required
- Commitment to partnership and interest in client development preferred
- Flexible location options across our 12 offices, with Virginia State Bar admission highly preferred

Responsibilities:

- Work directly with clients on government contracts matters
- Conduct research and analysis on bid protests, cybersecurity, and acquisition regulation compliance
- Draft REAs and claims, and assist with related claims analysis and counseling
- Handle federal subcontracting issues and disputes, and ensure compliance with flow-down regulations
- Develop expertise in multiple award contracts and small business procurement
- Prepare written and oral “thought leadership” pieces and contribute to client development efforts

Requirements:

- Minimum 4-5 years of experience in a law firm setting
- Strong academic background
- Admission to the Virginia State Bar highly preferred
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and take on responsibility for certain matters
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to continue learning and growing in the field of government contracts
